On foot of my Dexa January 2025, I decided to do something positive to stop the trajectory into osteoporosis. I had been to class fitness on 2 occasions but had been injured, so I decided to try a personal trainer. I Googled the ‘best trainer Limerick city’ and thankfully found Jamie Hunter.

Jamie doesn’t go for the ‘burn’, or intensive exercise, but builds up gradually so that you don’t feel strain or pain. I now suddenly surprise myself and find strength in daily life I didn’t have previously.

Jamie listened to my specific goals and tailored a programme to build my strength gradually. He answers questions because he has many years of experience and knows the answers. He is very approachable and patient.

Jamie’s consultation is free, so what have you got to lose by dropping an e-mail or picking up the ‘phone? I’m so glad I did and would unreservedly recommend Jamie.

As an aside, Urban One where Jamie trains, is a lovely gym. Training is exclusively in a large area on the top floor where there are also showers etc.

On the ground floor there’s is a nice cafe.

This is the time of year to be proactive. Jamie’s programme is not for someone who wants instant results and then gives up. This is for those who want to be healthy and fit long term. Make that call! I’m so glad I did!

Worked with Jamie from January 2024.. Was 50 years old 124kg, pains in joints and feeling old.

I met with Jamie, discussed where I was and where I wanted to be. Jamie put me on a program in the gym and set a nutrition plan. He worked with me, encouraged me tweaked the program as necessary and I ended the year 99kg, no more pains far stronger and fitter than I believed possible in my 50’s.

For 2025 we set new longer term objectives, Jamie works with me, he advises, encourages and develops a program that works for me. He then tweakes it as we progress.

After turning 50 a few years ago both my husband and I realised we needed to do more than just walk as a form of exercise, we needed strength training (suited to our age bracket and not just lifting barbells or running on treadmills), we needed to be able to get up off the floor (something that you seem to lose as you age), be strong in our movements, general strength building and well being for the body.   

We were very fortunate to discover Jamie from Fitstrong.  We have been visiting Jamie for over three years now, once a week at his home gym.  We love the fact that the exercises are programmed just for us, it is a one on one session and it is affordable.

When we first began with Jamie I had a badly damaged knee and my husband had injured his shoulder.  Jamie was able to modify all the exercises to suit the abilities of what our bodies could and couldn’t do.  As the months progressed and the injuries healed Jamie increased both strength exercises and stretches to enable us to move more freely (can happily get up and down off the floor now), feel confident when lifting weights (carrying that bag of mulch from trailer to back yard when gardening), lifting and moving furniture around the house, and just generally being confident in doing physical work.

Jamie believes wholeheartedly in the A12 approach, he does an excellent job at spreading the word about the programme and facilitates it so that anyone can achieve it. My squat went from a 5 rep max of 52kg to 30 reps with 67.5kg! Amazing.

I like trainers who are straight to the point. I like them to tell me what to do, how to do it, when to do it and correct me when I’m doing something wrong. Jamie did all that. He was available to answer my many questions and always reached out to the group and individually. I liked that he told me to concentrate, stop talking. And I liked that he didn’t scream and shout encouragement. He was controlled. When he spoke, I listened. He usually had something important to say. I feel accomplished. I’ve done challenges before. But nothing like the A12. I feel proud. And I’ve even got some little guns 💪🏻
